Visiting Lumare’s Adopted Corals

Ocean has provided us with livelihood for humans, and Lumare always wants to contribute to any initiatives that help the ocean thrive. This includes supporting our friend’s project for coral transplantation called Reeformers, in Manado, North Sulawesi.

In July 2023, we had the opportunity to visit Reeformer's coral site and participate in their monitoring trip to examine the 160 young corals that LUMARE had adopted in August 2022. After a year, the corals planted have grown so much. They have created an ecosystem of their own with plenty of fish living in the neighbourhood. There were more than 50 coral recruitments in Lumare’s area, and we wish to have more of them in the future.

Reeformer’s team also showed us how to clean the coral’s rack from the turf algae and to replant the baby corals, ensuring we create a good home for the coral reefs.

We hope together, we can conserve the ocean and its inhabitants and create a more sustainable blue economy.
